Moyer’s Own Lawn Care Expert, Robert Gaunt, Earns Master’s Degree in Plant Sciences
At Moyer, expertise is something we invest in. That’s why we’re proud to celebrate a major achievement by one of our own: Robert Gaunt, Lawn and Tree Operations Manager, who recently earned his master’s degree in plant sciences from Penn State World Campus Online.
For Rob, this milestone is the latest chapter in a 25-year career dedicated to understanding and improving lawn care. And for our customers, it’s another example of the unmatched expertise Moyer brings to every lawn we care for.
Rob isn’t just knowledgeable — he’s one of the most credentialed professionals in the region. In addition to his new master’s degree, he is also:
- An ISA Certified Arborist
- A Certified Professional Horticulturist
- A Certified Tree Care Specialist
- A Certified Commercial Care Applicator in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware
His combined accreditations make him one of the only experts in the area with this depth and breadth of specialized training.
Over the last decade, the lawn care and plant sciences industry has been transforming faster than ever, especially in the areas of soil science, environmental impact, and sustainable treatment methods. Rob has not only witnessed these changes firsthand but has been a driving force behind bringing the latest knowledge and innovations at Moyer.
Most recently, Rob helped develop Moyer’s newly improved Total Green Turf and Soil Program, built on cutting-edge soil science and greener treatment practices that prioritize the health of the environment as much as the health of each lawn.
As climate change challenges the way we care for landscapes, Rob has championed approaches that “listen to what nature tells us.” This means using environmentally responsible materials, reducing chemical footprints, and developing practices that work with, rather than against, natural systems.
And the impact is measurable. With the methods Rob has helped implement, Moyer is able to reduce carbon emissions by up to one ton per lawn serviced. It’s a powerful example of how scientific expertise can lead to meaningful environmental benefits for homeowners and communities alike.
Rob’s academic journey required focus, dedication, and time — and Moyer was proud to stand behind him. Throughout his studies, Moyer encouraged Rob to pursue higher education, supported schedule needs related to coursework, and continued to champion his goals.
Our commitment doesn’t stop there. Moyer consistently encourages all technicians and team members to pursue certifications and higher learning in their fields. It’s one of the reasons Moyer stands out in an industry where this level of expertise is rare.
