You should backwash your pool when your filter pressure gauge reads 8 to 10 PSI over the starting level. It doesn’t hurt to backwash once per week when performing your weekly water testing maintenance.
How often should I run my pool?
We recommend running your pool for a minimum of 8 hours per day. During a heatwave you should aim for 12+ hours.
How often should I balance my pool water?
You should balance your pool water a minimum of once per week, but it is best to test your chlorine and pH levels twice a week.
What does it mean if I smell a strong chlorine odor?
A strong chlorine odor is caused by chloramines in the pool water and an oxidizing shock should be added to the pool to resolve this issue.
When should I open my pool?
You should open your pool two to three weeks before you plan to swim. It takes a minimum of two weeks to get the pool water balanced and debris cleared up for the pool to be safe for swimming.
Should I use a tarp or a solid safety cover when closing my pool?
Solid pool safety covers keep out debris and sunlight and make for a cleaner pool opening. Tarp covers often rip and are not designed to hold weight. If a child or pet were to walk on a tarp cover, they would sink through the tarp.

I had Moyer over my house Feb 3 to replace my old oil tank. Listen to them if they tell you that your oil tank is old and needs replacing. Since my old oil tank looks just fine to the naked eye, I was skeptical when they informed me that my tank may be 35 – 40 years or older. I examined the underbelly of the tank, and there were various states of rust throughout, however there was one area where there was dark colored rust, and when rubbed it released an obvious odor of heating oil. I doubt I had a year or two before I had an environmental disaster on my hands. At installation time the Moyer folks stepped me through the process and answered all my questions even when I thought I was being a pain. At the end of the installation I was confident that everything was completed correctly, and I completely understood the process through its conclusion.

I just wanted to take the time to tell you about the great work by both Rhonda and Mike. I came home to some pretty intense algae on my pool walls yesterday. I made a call to Moyer at 4pm to Rhonda who was pleasant and sent Mike out within 45 minutes. I did not request immediate service but was appreciative nonetheless. Mike showed up and not only treated and tested the water but even brushed the algae off. He was super pleasant and did everything to remedy the situation and genuinely cared. Being a business owner myself, I just wanted to take the time to applaud some great service and efforts by those 2 individuals.
